MetaVR Production Facilities
We thought you might like to see what our production process looks
like for our multi-channel
visual systems. Our rackmount systems are in volume production;
they are built to order by our zero-inventory, just-in-time, virtually
integrated partner in the Boston metropolitan area, BostonTech
Partners. With a large installed base we have developed significant
manufacturing experience that yields systems that work out-of-the-box
and require no on-site installation. Many customers do not even require
on-site training or integration support as our viewpoint
protocol enables customers to integrate their simulation host with
our visual systems in a matter of weeks.
 |
All subsystems are first built outside
the chassis for extensive burn-in testing. Systems are then assembled
into a rackmount configuration.
|
Various system tests are performed, which include network and uninterruptible
power supply integrity tests.
The system pictured here has a rackmount monitor for the operator's
station. The operator's station enables the user to see the the
output of any of the visual channels and to switch the monitor's
output, and the keyboard-and-mouse input, to any computer in the
rack. |
 |
After a full week of burn-in testing and QA, systems are packed
in ruggedized plastic corrugated boxes that are custom designed
for MetaVR's shipments.
|
|
Everything is packed to arrive safely via
Federal Express.
|
 |
Systems can be operational within a day after arrival with setup
performed by your own site technicians; no on-site support is normally
required. |
