MetaVR at AUVSI 2003

MetaVR technology was demonstrated in booths of some of its customers at the Association for Unmanned Vehicles International (AUVSI) Unmanned Systems 2003 Symposium & Exhibition that was held July 15-17, 2003, at the Baltimore Convention Center Baltimore, Maryland.

As shown below, AAI Corporation demonstrated its use of MetaVR VRSG as the 3D synthetic payload visualization system for its Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (TUAV) Ground Control Station (GCS) embedded trainer. The GCS controls the flight of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and receives its telemetry.

CDL Systems, which develops software for use in the control of unmanned vehicles and in the control of remote surveillance equipment in both manned and unmanned applications, demonstrated use of MetaVR VRSG in its Vehicle Control Station (VCS). The VCS can be used to control unmanned air, water and ground vehicles for land mine detection, remote surveillance, reconnaissance, and target applications. Some applications for the vehicle control station include border patrol, search and rescue missions, fire-fighting, and helicopter payload control.

The Joint Technology Center / Systems Integration Laboratory (JTC/SIL) of Redstone Arsenal, AL demonstrated their unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) and UAV MUSE simulations using MetaVR's Ft. Campbell Cassidy MOUT site database. The high-fidelity database enabled the JTC/SIL to develop and execute collaborative engagements against simulated targets controlled by OneSAF Testbed. The Ft Campbell urban training database is geographuically matched to the terrain and cultural features from the actual site, thus it provides a realistic testbed to evaluate future combat systems (FCS) requirements and capabilities for both manned and unmanned systems.

MetaVR systems are used for applications such as urban operations training, unmanned aerial vehicles for the US Army TUAV, and prototyping the FCS.
