Night Vision Labs Acquires STRICOM Rotary Wing Aircraft (RWA) PC-Based Simulation The Night Vision Labs (NVE) at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey acquired a complete MetaVR multi-channel VRSG system and the STRICOM PC-based reconfigurable rotary wing aircraft (RWA) simulator. The simulation application and source code support their research efforts into advanced situational awareness displays (SAD). The multi-channel VRSG system was integrated with the NVE helicopter pilot controls and simulator shell to provide a fully operational simulator using their existing hardware. The STRICOM reconfigurable RWA supports simulation via configuration files of the UH-60, AH-64, CH-47, and AH-1 helicopters. The MetaVR multi-channel system was delivered with a complete and functional Microsoft Visual C++ development environment of the PC-based RWA simulator software to support the NVE goal of rapid software prototyping of emerging situational-awareness display technologies. The system was delivered and integrated during a one-week period with MetaVR staff providing source code reviews of the development environment (seen below) and assisting in operational testing of the simulator while flying missions against computer generated opposing forces. The versatility of the synchronized multi-channel visual system also enables the NVE to provide the visual displays for their reconfigurable simulator.
