MetaVR at I/ITSEC 2002

MetaVR exhibited its products at the annual I/ITSEC trade show in Booth #1264. The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference and Trade Show was held December 2 - 5, 2002, at Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, FL, USA.

MetaVR's 20' x 20' booth at I/ITSEC 2002.

At I/ITSEC, MetaVR demonstrated synchronized multi-channel visuals as well as interactive 3D terrain-creation systems using high-resolution photo-realistic imagery as the basis for the demonstrated virtual environments.

New VRSG 3D content, WorldPerfect terrain creation workstation, the new MetaVR IRserver, and MetaVR VRSG radar simulation (new product announcement) were among the features on display in the MetaVR I/ITSEC booth.

As shown below and described in MetaVR's latest newsletter, also featured in the booth was a 9-geocell MOUT terrain database with 15 cm natural color imagery at the highest resolution area. This urban training database features buildings constructed from architectural data and digital photographs of all building faces.

A simulated micro-UAV and soldier scenario was demonstrated that showed how the micro-UAV enables dismounted infantry to see around building corners without exposing themselves during urban combat. The VRSG First Person Simulator (FPS) using Boston Dynamics DI-Guy depicted the soldier in an Objective Force Warrior uniform and equipment configuration.

Shown above are members of MSNBC, who visited the MetaVR booth for a demo and a discussion of our technology, and shot some footage of our urban simulation. The footage was aired on MSNBC on December 5, 2002 as one of the highlights of MNBC's coverage of IITSEC 2002.

Shown above representing a high-speed fixed wing simulation, was MetaVR's 56-geocell Southwest USA terrain database configured for use as a 3-channel synchronized visual system. The database features built-up areas that include the National Training Center (NTC), Nellis Air Force Base (with one-foot color natural imagery), and China Lake.

MetaVR manufactures software and turnkey PC-based systems for high-speed 3D visualization and rapid creation of networked virtual worlds on PCs for the simulation, training, and location-based entertainment markets.

MetaVR systems are used for applications such as urban operations training (MOUT), unmanned aerial vehicles for the US Army TUAV, and prototyping the Future Combat System.
