VRSG Scenarios

New in VRSG version 5.4 is the ability to add character scenarios to DIS exercises. These scenarios contain PDU logs of the recorded movements of First Person Simulator (FPS) characters in VRSG. You record one or more FPS characters performing some activity on an MDX database, and then play them back in a network exercise or in a standalone scenario.
The Baghdad scenarios that are delivered with VRSG were built using this feature.

On the Scenarios tab of the VRSG Dashboard you can:

  • Play one or multiple scenarios concurrently on a given MDX database using familiar start, stop, pause, restart, and fast forward controls. Scenarios can be played locally or on the DIS network.
  • Add characters to a new or existing scenario by recording then controlling a given character's movements and animated behaviors using a joystick while the scenario plays around you. You can then play back the scenario with the added character(s).

The ability to record and play back character movements is useful in training settings; you can record specific character animations in FPS and then play them back so that trainees can learn to identify different behaviors. A scenario can be simply one PDU log of a single character, or a set of multiple PDU logs of complex character interactions along with scenario-specific viewpoints, events, and cultural features.
