		MetaVR Product System Requirements Recommended System Configuration We recommend that you use the most current hardware to get the best results from our products. Currently, the fastest and most capable commercial graphics cards are those built with the ATI Radeon™ HD 2900XT. Installing the latest ATI Catalyst™ video card driver release with this card is recommended for running MetaVR Virtual Reality Scene Generator (VRSG). The following is a recommended high-end system configuration: • Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (VRSG also runs on Windows XP 64-bit systems and the Vista operation system) • CPU: Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 Quad Core 3.0 GHz 8 MB 1333 FSB processor • Memory: 4 GB PC2-5300/DDR2-667 dual-channel RAM • Storage: 500 GB serial ATA drive for the operating system and two 1 TB drives for data (more storage needed to compile a large number of tiles with the Metadesic Compiler) • Graphics hardware: Radeon™ HD 2900XT 512 MB, nVidia GeForce 7900, or better • Network card: 1 GB FastEthernet • Graphics software: Microsoft DirectX 9.0c • Input device: 6 degrees-of-freedom device such as 3Dconnection SpaceExplorer or SpacePilot as a primary navigation input device for VRSG, and optionally a joystick (such as Logitech® Extreme 3D Pro) for a secondary device for VRSG's fixed wing, UAV, or FPS modes • DVD reader: DVD-R compatible; MetaVR products are delivered on DVD media Minimum System Configuration The following minimum requirements were established by testing the lowest-end MetaVR internal use system: Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (note that VRSG will run on Windows XP 64-bit systems) (Note: Although the current version of MetaVR VRSG will still run under the older Windows 2000 operating system, known issues include very slow performance at application shutdown and during a window resize or video mode change. Running VRSG or MetaVR’s other software products under Windows 2000 will not benefit from a hyperthreading-enabled processor. MetaVR does not recommend Windows 2000 as an operating system for running MetaVR software. ) CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz processor or better with hyperthreading, 1 MB cache, 533 FSB Memory: 2 GB RAM Storage: 120 GB serial ATA hard drive for the operating system and 500 MB drive for databases Graphics hardware: ATI Radeon x1950XTX Mobility Radeon X1800, nVidia GeForce Go 7900 with at least 256 MB, or other Microsoft DirectX-compliant 3D graphics accelerator that supports DirectX texture compression Graphics software: Microsoft DirectX 9.0c Network card: 1 GB FastEthernet DVD reader: DVD-R compatible; MetaVR products are delivered on DVD media Storage requirements for MetaVR WorldPerfect and Metadesic Compiler can require as much as twice the storage requirements of Virtual Reality Scene Generator (VRSG) to account for the space needed to store imagery and elevation source data and compiled terrain.
